Correct order of meals can help diabetes patients to control food intake, and avoid excessive fluctuation of postprandial blood glucose.
The recommended order is:
Soup should be taken in the beginning of the meal. Sufficient water not only gives a sense of satiety, but also prevents eating too fast. Soup should be light, and a certain amount of green vegetables or konjac can be added to increase the ratio.
Dietary fiber not only lowers blood glucose, but also plays a role in repairing islet functions at the same time. According to the studies, consumption of high-fiber foods in advance have a more obvious improving effect on postprandial blood glucose in type II diabetic patients, it can prolong gastric emptying time, delay the absorption of glucose, thereby lower the blood lipids and blood glucose level, and nutritional indicators are not affected. Thus, it is a feasible treating measurement.
Foods rich in Dietary fiber: Brown rice, Corn, Millet, Barley, Red bean, Sauteed Green Beans, Soybeans, Cabbages, Yams, Black-sesame, Carrots, Celery, Balsam pear, Spinach, Towel gourd, Lotus root, Lettuce.
Eating bread afterwards
Researchers set 50 types II diabetic patients with no serious complication as subjects. For the meal contains the same amount of calorie, the order of meals on the first day is eating bread followed by dishes, and that on the second day is eating dishes followed by bread. As the results demonstrated, on the first day, 2 hours postprandial blood glucose concentration is 180 mg/dl (10 mmol/L); on the second day, 2 hours postprandial blood glucose concentration is 144 mg/dl (8 mmol/L). This indicates that eating dishes followed by bread have better improving effect on blood glucose. Besides, bread mixed with some coarse grains or side dishes can have a stronger feeling of satiety.
Eat meat in the end
After eating vegetables and bread, ingested meat will naturally be decreased, which can well control the intake of lipids.
It should be noted that, this order of meals is just for general condition. If a strong exercise is taken before the meal, the blood glucose is already a low level. In that case, main meal (such as bread) should be taken first to avoid low blood glucose.
