Type 1 diabetes mellitus
Once diagnosed, the type 1 diabetic patients should receive insulin therapy.
Type 2 diabetic patients should apply insulin therapy when the following conditions appear:
Diabetes patients with poor control of blood glucose following oral administration of hypoglycemic agents;
Diabetes patients who cannot adhere to the therapy due to side effects of drugs, even though there is a satisfactory control of blood glucose by oral administration of hypoglycemic agents;
Diabetes patients who accompanied with malfunction of liver and kidney;
Diabetes patients who indicated ketosis, acidosis, and other acute complications of diabetes;
Diabetes patients under a state of stress (e.g., severe trauma, major operation and severe infection, etc..);
Diabetes patients who had Gestational diabetes mellitus;
Diabetes patients with unknown types of diabetes and with apparent weight loss.
